Welcome to 7/8 D's Class Website
This website is to help keep both students and parents informed about what is going on both in the classroom and within the school. Each subject link will have content for that subject area and links that will enable you to find more activities and useful information. The homework link is very important. This is where your child can go if he/she has been absent, forgot to write in his/her agenda, or confused about assignments. Please make sure your child checks this link on a regular basis. The picture link is where you can find "snapshots" of all the interesting projects/assignments your child is working on. In order to keep students safe, no names will be posted. The blog link is where students and parents can go to comment, or if they have questions/concerns regarding projects and/or homework. For any other concerns, please phone the school to talk to me directly.
I hope you enjoy this site, and it is my privilege to have the opportunity to teach your child this year.
This year, the students in 7/8 D will be introduced to Inquiry-Based Learning. Students will be engaged in activities that help them actively pose questions, investigate, solve problems, and draw conclusions about the world around them.
I will provide students with many opportunities that will encourage independent thinking. Students will become researchers, writers, creators, and activists rather than passive receivers of a textbook's content. They will do meaningful work that address essential questions. Questioning is key; this is what drives the learning process. It's critical that the students take ownership and are receptive to a new way of learning.
"Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand."
